The book of Rev 20:14 makes us to understand that death is a personality. Death as an individual will be cast into the Lake of Fire. Death is a spirit from the pit of hell with an assignment. The assignment of death is evil, the assignment of death is wickedness and that is evidenced by the revelation that just like every other evil, the predestination of death is the lake of fire.
Rev 21:14 ” And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the 2nd death” So the casting of the spirit of death into the lake of fire signifies the second death
THE MISSION OR ASSIGNMENT OF THE SPIRIT OF DEATH
1. One of the missions of the spirit of death is to separate men from God. God told Adam in Genesis 2:17 not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and that on the day he shall eat of it, he shall die.
When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they were separated from God. They were chased out of the presence of God. Gen 3:24 ” So he drove out the man and he placed at the East of the Garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way to keep the way of the tree of life”
Whenever a man stops having fellowship with God, death has taken place. When an individual stop communicating with the third heaven, then the spirit of death is at work. Whenever for any reason you stop praying, you no longer see the need for prayer, you no longer have the appetite for prayer, whenever prayer becomes a burden to you, then you are dead. Anything that can make you to stop having interest in fellowship with God has already succeeded in bringing death into your life.
Don’t allow circumstances of life and cares of this world to separate you from the love and joy that can only be found in fellowship with God. If lack, poverty, pursuing of money, riches, persecution, knowledge stop your fellowship with God, then death has taken place. The spirit of death is at work.
2. Imprisonment – The Spirit of Death is the spirit of Imprisonment. A person who is in prison is restricted.A person who is in prison is hindered. Such a person had no freedom. He or she cannot do what he ought to do and wants to do.
Psalms 79:11 says ” Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die”
Another translation ” Listen to the groans of the prisoners and by your great power free those who are condemned to die”
The spirit of death imprisons those that he wants to kill. He first of all put them in prison. Some persons are caged by the spirit of death, some persons are living dead. Nothing is working in their life. They have potentials that cannot benefit them because their potentials are buried somewhere. They have good certificates, excellent grades but nobody wants to employ them in anything meaningful. They are intelligent, have bright ideas but it has not added anything good to their lives because they are in the casket of death.Some people remain in one place from the beginning of the year to the end. They are stagnant. They are not moving forward because there is a covenant of death in operation in their life.
Zech 9:11 “As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant, I have set forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water”
NLT “Because of the covenant I made with you, sealed with blood, I will free your prisoners from death in a waterless dungeon. I pray that the covenant blood of Jesus Christ will set you free from every imprisonment of death in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen
Anyone in spiritual prison is not at liberty. The scripture said in 2 Corinthians 3:17 that where the Holy Spirit is, there is Liberty.”
May you experience the Liberty that comes from the presence of the spirit the Lord. The word of God said in Micah 2:13 ” The breaker is come up before them, they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the Lord on the head of them. The Holy Spirit is the breaker. The Holy Spirit has come. May the Spirit of the Lord break every prison wall that has confined you within the casket of the spirit of death. Receive Liberty now in Jesus Mighty name. Amen.
3 The Spirit of Death came steal, kill, and destroy according to John 10:10
- It steals and destroys businesses
- It steals and kills vision
- It steals and destroy dreams
- It is responsible for stealing away souls prematurely from families
- It steals money, riches and wealth
- It is a spirit of accusation Rev 12:10. It is responsible for accusing people in their dream
- It bites
- It is the spirit of untimely death
HOW TO CONQUER THE SPIRIT OF DEATH
1. Claim the protection of the Blood of Jesus Christ
Exodus 12:13
And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt
Zech 9: 11 As for you also, by the blood of your covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water
2. Declare the Word of God
You declare the word of God against the Spirit of Death. When you are praying concerning something, God will be asking you what does my word say concerning that situation.
Psalm 118:17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord
Psalm 79 :11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die.

Proverbs 18:10. The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous runs into it and is safe
Hebrew 13:8. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever
3. Abound in the Work of the Lord.
Therefore my Beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord
Remember you must be saved. The message of salvation is simple and straightforward. Rom 10: 9-10
” If you should confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. You shall be saved. For with the heart man believed unto righteousness and with the heart confession is made unto salvation.
